Who are the Elks?

Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building, golf course or pool. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up.

2013

This years Ritual Team has done it yet once again. This is the 6th year in a row that they have placed 1st in the Ritual Team Competition at the Florida State Elks Association Convention in Orlando, Florida. While the team traveled to Reno, NV to compete at the National Competition, they did the best they could do but felt just short of making the final competition and a little over 1 point away from 1st place. They did however have two outstanding awards this year by having 2 All Americans Officers in the Eastern Division on the team, this is the highest scoring performing officer in their respectable positions. Both Matt Carter performing as the Esquire and Michael Dinius performing as the Exalted Ruler, the 2 most involved and difficult positions to perform and the team brought back 2 All Americans! Congratulations to the entire team and coaches for all of the hard work and dedication it takes to perform at these levels!

Below are the performing officers and the State Competition awards.

  • Exalted Ruler Michael Dinius - All State
  • Leading Knight Jack Cantwell - All State

2010

2010 Ritual Team

Wednesday July 7th, 2010

Memorial Day weekend, your Lodge officers journeyed to Orlando to attend the National Convention and represent the State of Florida in the National Ritual Contest.

The preliminary rounds were on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with the top two teams in each division, East and West, competing again on Tuesday afternoon. Your officers managed to do just that, we were 2nd in the East Division and drew a 3:00pm slot for Tuesdays final.

Competition at this level is very demanding and all teams bettered their original preliminary scores, which is not normally the case. Your officers competed with honor and dignity and when the smoked cleared we had a 3rd place finish for the competition. The winning team came from Artesia, New Mexico with a score of 98.1. This was the first time that I had ever witnessed a score of 98 being posted. Our congratulations go out to them for an outstanding performance.

We congratulate Mike Dinius, our Inner Guard, who came back with the All American Award for his station.

We thank all of you for your support and a few of you even drove over to Orlando to watch us perform, thank you all. Rest assured that we will go back to the drawing board, correct a few things and be ready next Spring for another shot at the National Title.

Fraternally,
Lou Horvath, PER
Ritual Coach

Performing Exalted Ruler David Manning accomplishes another amazing individual feat! He has won the Jolly Cork Award for the 3rd straight year! He did this first as the Esteemed Loyal Knight, then as the Esteemed Leading Knight, and this year as the Exalted Ruler, which is extremely rare that an Exalted Ruler receives this award.
